Wetherby Placepot tips: Paul Kealy's perm for the £50,000 guaranteed pool

There needs to be a shock or two for the Placepot to pay much at Wetherby as there are plenty of short-priced favourites, but there might well be a couple.

Kart D'Estruval's early price of 4-7 for the opener (12.45) is a little bit of a guess-up as it's hard to know what he achieved in winning in France, and Battle Born Lad, who showed fair form in bumpers and then won on his hurdles debut, should be good enough to beat most of the others anyway, so he's the banker.

West Balboa is the best horse in the novice chase (1.15), but she looked anything but a natural when turned over at 2-5 on her debut, so I'll be taking Farnoge and Cadell against her.

The third (1.50), is the trickiest race on the card, so I'll be going with three, Welsh Charger, Luckie Seven and Isle Of Sark.

Liam Swagger is the right favourite in the next (2.25), even if I'm not convinced he's that straightforward. Inspire Hope, getting plenty of weight, is worth including too.

The Skelton topweights in the feature (3.00) are likely to have bigger targets later on in the season, so I'll go for Prairie Wolf, who had a recent pipe-opener over hurdles, and Genois

I like Bitsnbuckles against Queens Venture in the last leg (3.35) but certainly couldn't leave out the favourite.
