US racing tips: Shane Ketteridge with two selections from Gulfstream Park

Emmanuel

Be Your Best

1pt win

The Grade 2 Fort Lauderdale Stakes features a field of nine older horses going to post over the 1m1f trip on the dirt, and one who can go well is the Michael Maker-trained Emmanuel, who is drawn in the outside spot.

This five-year-old is returning to his favourite course with his form figures at Gulfstream reading 1411, while this is his first start here since landing his second consecutive Grade 3 Canadian Turf Stakes back in March.

Emmanuel certainly knows where the winning line is round here, while he also won at this level when taking the Pennine Ridge Stakes at Belmont Park as a three-year-old.

Jockey Javier Castellano will likely look to get across and into a stalking position from the outset.

Saffie Joseph Jr’s Be Your Best looks very dangerous in the Grade 3 Suwannee River Stakes. The daughter of Muhaarar hit the board in two Grade 1s last season and comes into this off the back of a determined victory at this level at Aqueduct last time.

That day she was given a good ride by Frankie Dettori to hold on by a nose over three furlongs further than this mile distance. The drop back in trip is sure to suit and she will love the likely fast ground.

The general feeling is that Be Your Best has yet to hit her peak so she is well worth keeping an eye on, even more so next year when she turns five, and she can have a big say in this finale.
