Chelmsford Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his picks for a £50,000 guaranteed pool

Deputy betting editor

The Tote’s £50,000 Placepot guarantee is at Chelmsford on Thursday and the opening 5f nursery (4.10) is a good opportunity for a banker as Blue Lakota races from 1lb lower than for his win at Newcastle last week when factoring in rider Warren Fentiman’s 7lb allowance.

The 6f fillies' novice (4.40) comes up next and is tricky. Preanka must be considered as she is the only winner in the race but it’s also worth putting in Sunlit Uplands, who has course form.

There will be three places available for the 7f nursery (5.10), and for that reason it’s worth banking on Crest Of Light, who finished second at Southwell last time.

Rajeko and Port Light are the standard setters in the mile novice (5.40) and can be included, while Kessaar Power and Kitaro Kich appeal in the first division of the mile handicap (6.10).

The second division (6.40) is another open race and the in-form Reverberation is a course-and-distance winner who should go well. Starshot is the other one included.
