Ascot Placepot tips: Paul Kealy's perm for the £150k guaranteed pool
There is less between the runners in Ascot's opener (1.50) than the betting suggests, so while Relief Rally does boast the best claims, I'd be inclined to add another runner for Placepot purposes.
Go Athletico had some terrific form on bad ground last season and wasn't beaten that far over 6f on Sunday, weakening late on, and he may be about to bounce back to form.
Al Aasy is the form horse in the second (2.25) on this season's efforts, including a cheeky success from Al Qareem last time, but a slog in deep ground will make things interesting given he likes to sneak into his races without much of a battle.
Al Qareem is as tough as old boots, and so is Hamish, who will have deep ground for the first time since he readily saw off Al Qareem at Newmarket last year.
The third leg (3.00) is really tricky, but I'm sticking with my outsider Russet Gold and adding soft-ground performers Purosangue and Vadream, the latter being a former winner of this.
Golden Mind and United Approach are my two in the big 7f handicap (3.35), but I'd better add one on the far side just in case and Germanic, just behind Golden Mind last time, fits the bill.
The fillies' Listed heat (4.10) is another tough cookie, but Queen Of Mougins showed big improvement for soft ground when third in a Group 3 race last time, and she could be on the up.
A more speculative suggestion would be Sky Safari, who has tons to find on the form of her maiden win in June, but is a big unit hailing from a yard that doesn't run its horses out of their class too often.
You can make a case for virtually everything in the last, but my two suggestions are one-time Coventry third Vintage Clarets, who has hit form in the autumn again and might be able double up, and Badri, who probably won't win even if he is handicapped to do so, but is likely to run his race.
