Thursday's free racing tips: six horses to consider putting in your multiple bets

Thursday's best bets ranked in order of confidence by our top tipsters . . .

Handicappers' nap

Sir Maxi (7.00 Newcastle)

Has a bit to prove on this year's turf form, but there was some promise in his debut for new trainer Sam England at Ripon last month. Down in grade on this return to the all-weather, the course-and-distance winner is 7lb lower than when a narrow third on his last start here in March.

Eyecatcher

Scatter Penny (1.50 Doncaster)

Joanna Mason’s mount didn’t have the race run to suit last time and now gets a tongue-tie added for her second run in a nursery.

The Punt nap

Harper's Ferry (4.10 Doncaster)

Opened his account with something to spare at Windsor in April, form that looks strong with the runner-up and sixth now rated 92. He caught the eye travelling well before fading when upped to 1m4f in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot and should be a major force back in trip and class on his handicap debut for Ed Walker.

Newmarket nap

Pellitory (5.15 Doncaster)

Has always been held in some regard by James Owen and is fancied to back up his recent win at Yarmouth.

Speed figures

Toomuchforme (1.50 Doncaster)

Possibly had an impossible task when trying to give weight to a promising William Haggas debutant last time out but still clocked a good time, and doesn't seem too harshly handicapped on nursery debut.

Dark horse

Nidaami (2.00 Epsom)

Didn't trouble the front two but was nicely clear of the rest when finishing third on debut at Chelmsford, staying on well in the closing stages. He's likely to be more streetwise this time and it would be no surprise were he to go close.
