The Punt Acca: Robbie Wilders' three horse racing tips at Exeter and Dundalk on Friday
Three horses to include in a multiple on Friday . . .
Etalon (2.25 Exeter)
Plenty of talented second-season novices contest the Haldon Gold Cup and Etalon makes the most appeal among them for Dan Skelton. He was a seriously progressive performer last campaign and has a decent record when fresh. Despite being the second lowest-rated horse in the Maghull Novices' Chase on his final start of the previous season, he was only sent off a 9-1 chance for that Grade 1, and might have been over the top when disappointing there. He can get back on track returned to handicap company.
Beachcomber (3.35 Exeter)
The 3m handicap chase at Exeter looks a decent spot for Beachcomber. This six-year-old produced an encouraging chasing debut for Jonjo and AJ O'Neill last month when third in a warm novice handicap at Chepstow won last year by the smart Chianti Classico, and he should strip fitter for that return. His mark is unchanged and he looks the type to keep improving in this sphere after a productive first season over hurdles. A sound surface suits and it'd be a surprise if we've seen the best of him.
Cloud Cover (6.30 Dundalk)
James Tate has a decent record in Ireland and saddles two in the Listed race for fillies and mares at Dundalk. Cloud Cover has surprisingly opened up at bigger odds than her stablemate Behind The Scenes, who is rated 10lb lower, makes her return from 293 days off and has a wide draw to contend with. Cloud Cover rates the likelier winner from three stalls lower under Billy Lee on the form of her stylish victory on All-Weather Finals day at Newcastle and close second in a Listed event at Chelmsford in July. An extra furlong looks ideal.
