Three horses to include in a treble on Tuesday . . .
Beshtani (3.23 Sandown)
Wathnan’s four-year-old ran a mighty race on his domestic and stable debut at Epsom in May, just failing to defy top weight by the narrowest margin in a quality handicap on the Oaks undercard. The son of Siyouni was below that form in the Royal Hunt Cup next time but likely found the ground lively enough that day and got firmly back on track in the Summer Mile the following month, always prominent and beaten less than two lengths by the smart Quddwah. There doesn’t look much pace in this race and he can benefit from another forward-going ride, while trainer Hamad Al Jehani has scored with his last two runners.
Naomi Lapaglia (3.30 Yarmouth)
This looks a typically competitive John Musker and it’s Richard Spencer’s filly who can spring a surprise. Thought good enough to contest the 1,000 Guineas on last year’s seasonal debut, she ended up with just a solitary handicap success to show for that term’s campaign but has taken it up a notch this time round, a solid fourth on her return at Deauville preceding two cracking efforts in an Ascot Group 3 and a Listed race at Haydock, all at a mile. She wasn’t at her best last time, when the race didn’t unfold ideally at Sandown, but has plenty of stamina in her pedigree and can put that firmly behind her on this step up to ten furlongs.
Windcrack (3.55 Sandown)
Andrew Balding’s filly hadn’t got home in two starts over further this season and appreciated the drop back to a mile at this course at the end of August, seeing it out best to land a first success in the hands of Oisin Murphy. That performance earned her a 5lb rise but she did it comfortably in the end and is the sort to start progressing now, while three-year-olds have taken the last three runnings of this. The daughter of Cracksman can continue the streak and make it four.
