The Punt Acca: Richard Russell's three horse racing tips at Wincanton on Tuesday

Hobb’s Delight (12.45 Wincanton)

Neil Mulholland’s gelding is bred for fences and made a good chase debut two starts back, jumping soundly to go down narrowly at Plumpton in October. He couldn’t build on that next time at Ffos Las, but his profile suggests the softer ground would have been against him that day. Back on a better surface and under the excellent Dylan Johnston, he can defy top weight for a first success over fences.

Skin Full (1.15 Wincanton)

David Pipe’s five-year-old was a decent second on his sole start in Irish points and made a solid start over fences 19 days ago, coming home well to claim a close fourth at Taunton. That was also his handicap debut and there’s a strong suspicion he’s going to prove much better over fences than he proved over hurdles. He’ll do even better given a greater stamina test but can land this before stepping up in trip.

Phoenix Risen (3.15 Wincanton)

American Land is on a hat-trick, having beaten Phoenix Risen for the first of those wins, but is set to be a good bit worse off with that rival and Jeremy Scott’s gelding can exact revenge. The son of Conduit hadn’t shone in his first five runs of this year but, given a break, attracted good market support ahead of that comeback at Taunton last month and got back on track, despite racing keenly. Gearoid Harney could only claim 3lb that day but gets the full 7lb of his useful allowance this time and the partnership can go one better.
