The Punt Acca: Richard Russell's three horse racing tips at Bath on Wednesday

Three horses to include in a multiple on Wednesday . . .

Rockit Tommy (2.32 Bath)

Sir Mark Todd’s gelding made a bright start to life, landing a bit of a touch when going in at the first time of asking at Lingfield in April last year before defying a penalty on his turf debut at Windsor just under a month later. It’s fair to say this campaign has not gone to plan, but his latest effort was much more encouraging, when a respectable fourth at Kempton, and he now races off a mark 10lb lower than his opening rating of 80. His sire has a decent winner-to-runners strike-rate over 1m6f+ and this step up in trip can help him land a first success of the season.

So Smart (4.05 Bath)

Grace Harris’s sprinter has been in solid form since springing a surprise over course and distance in June and supplemented that victory two starts back when coming out on top in a tight finish at Chepstow nine days ago. Returned to that track and up in grade one week later, the five-year-old ran a fine race against a stablemate and two others rated in the mid-high 80s, despite not technically being well-in under a penalty. He’s still penalised but is clearly in great heart and faces nothing of that calibre this time.

One Glance (4.42 Bath)

Alan King’s filly has improved for every run, building on a quiet start in June when finishing third to Fairy Glen (just denied in a Listed race at Longchamp on Sunday) the following month then finishing under four lengths behind the potentially high-class Sea Just In Time in August. She looked to have more to offer that day and this switch to turf, on her handicap debut, should prove no problem off what looks a workable mark.
