The Punt Acca: Matt Rennie's three horse racing tips from Ayr, Bath and Exeter on Thursday

Three horses to include in a multiple on Thursday . . .

Hornsea Bay (2.15 Ayr)

This juvenile was highly impressive over course and distance on his debut and a penalty for that shouldn't stop him from continuing his upward trajectory. Trained by David O'Meara, the son of New Bay looked incredibly professional on his first racecourse start when winning under Danny Tudhope by three lengths. Hornsea Bay must give 7lb to his rivals, but he could be a class above and his jockey is in flying form. He is operating at a 35 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight.

Forest Fairy (3.10 Bath)

Arc-winning trainer Ralph Beckett is thriving with fillies at present and the Cheshire Oaks winner can land another Listed prize in the Beckford Stakes. The three-year-old looked set for a big year when victorious at Chester's May meeting, but found the Oaks too hot subsequently and ran no sort of race in the Lancashire Oaks in July. They may have been too hot for her to handle at that point in her career and she drops in class here. The testing ground should be no issue as her sire Waldgeist thrived in the mud in the 2019 Arc, while she has 1m6f winners in her pedigree too.

Opening Bid (3.33 Exeter)

The nine-year-old impressively took this 2m3f handicap chase 12 months ago and looks to have dropped to a really attractive mark to land it again. Trained by Chris Down, he was a six-and-a-half-length winner last year, but has failed to score in nine starts since. However, there have been glimmers of hope on his last two starts, including when third at Newton Abbot on his penultimate run, and this trip could be his optimum. He also goes off a 2lb lower mark than last year's victory.
