The Punt Acca: Lee Sharp's three horse racing tips on Wednesday

Three horses to include in a multiple on Wednesday . . .

Swift Asset (3.00 Brighton)

Wednesday sees the start of Brighton's three-day Festival Of Racing. We want to kick off the meeting with a winner, and we can do that by backing the Richard Hannon-trained Swift Asset. He was running in Group races as a two-year-old, and although it took a few runs to get him going at three, he finally got off the mark again, comfortably winning at Bath. The manner in which he won suggests plenty more is to come, and he may go on and rack up a few wins as he progresses. Hannon has had plenty of success at Brighton over the years, striking at 21 per cent and showing a level-stakes profit despite having over 200 runners. I would look to back this one early, as I strongly suspect he will be supported.

Nevendon (4.10 Bath)

This dual-purpose son of Nathanial ran an excellent race when finishing second around here last time. He has already won over hurdles this season, and based on what he did last time, you would expect a win on the Flat is coming soon. He returns to Bath off the same mark looking to go one better, this time being ridden by Connor Planas instead of Taylor Fisher, who also claims 5lb. Trainer Alexandra Dunn has only used Planas once, aboard a 50-1 shot who finished third. It is a competitive race, with a few of his rivals having won over the distance. Therefore, I would be looking to back him at odds of at least 6-1.

Lailah (7.20 Yarmouth)

I'm prepared to take on the two three-year-olds in this classified stakes contest, as they will be too short in the market. Hourless, the likely favorite for this race, has already run in a similar contest and was strongly fancied that day but was beaten convincingly by nine-year-old, who has done nothing worthwhile since. Lailah is well bred and has shown enough ability to suggest she should be winning something soon. Her brother broke his maiden at Yarmouth, and she has every chance to do the same in this company. She is undoubtedly the best of the older horses and may be too good for the three-year-olds. We need someone we can rely on to get the job done, so I'm happy to see James Fanshawe teaming up with the talented Benoit de la Sayette - they have a strike-rate of 20 per cent when combining.
