The Final Word (3.05 Taunton)
The winner of a point-to-point in Ireland last year, The Final Word showed remarkable improvement when finishing third last time over course and distance. He ran prominently throughout the race and jumped soundly, but looked a bit laboured in the closing stages. However, he stuck to his task and it was a good start to his career. He will be coming up against some more experienced rivals again, but with a hurdles run under his belt, he can take another step forward.
Miss Cynthia (3.20 Market Rasen)
A useful stayer on the Flat, Miss Cynthia was switched to hurdling in December and has shown ability on her two starts in this sphere with two second-placed finishes. She was some way off the winner in her first start over hurdles at Fakenham, but followed that with a much improved performance when last seen at Warwick. She ran well throughout and was only denied a win by the rallying favourite in the closing stages. If she can produce a similar performance, she should go one better.
Cupola (4.20 Wolverhampton)
Cupola made a solid start to her career last month with an eyecatching run at Lingfield. She fluffed the start a bit and ran green in patches which ultimately led to her having to sit towards the back of the field. However, she finished the race very strongly, coming off the bend she showed plenty of speed and made up a lot of ground in the closing stages to finish just half a length off the winner. She is related to a number of decent sprint winners and with a run under her belt, further progress looks likely.
