The Punt Acca: Harry Wilson's three horse racing tips from York and Chepstow on Friday
Three horses to include in a treble on Friday . . .
Thunder Roar (1.30 York)
Thunder Roar is a proper soft-ground specialist, with form figures in those conditions or worse of 213112324. He was a good third at Leicester in April in a race that has worked out well, with the winner placing in a Group 3 and the second landing a Listed race since, and he has run well returned to those conditions the last twice, looking unlucky not to win a handicap at Haydock before running better than the result suggested when fourth at Ascot last time. He's officially 3lb well-in and this course winner looks underestimated in the market with conditions to suit.
The Reverend (2.40 York)
Master Builder and The Reverend both looked ahead of their marks when winning comfortably on the same day last month, but preference is for the latter, who looks the better-handicapped of the pair off revised marks. The Reverend had already shown promise on soft ground, winning a heavy-ground novice at Newmarket last year and finishing a close second when trying to concede 6lb to a well-bred Gosden newcomer, who is now rated 105, at Hamilton in August, before demolishing the field at Ascot last time. A 9lb rise looks more than fair and he looks a Group performer in the making.
Wayfinder (3.50 Chepstow)
Last year's winner Good Boy Bobby warrants plenty of respect, but tackling his first veterans' race might see course specialist Wayfinder bounce back to form. All four of his chase wins have been gained at this track, the latest over this distance off 2lb higher, and a couple of runs last season would make him a standout, notably chasing home subsequent runaway Welsh National winner Nassalam in December, while he has a good record when fresh.
