Serious Challenge (12.25 Huntingdon)

Nobody has trained more winners at Huntingdon in the last five seasons than Fergal O'Brien and his Serious Challenge is taken to get the job done at the first time of asking. Beaten just five lengths by Kyprios in the Group 3 Levmoss Stakes in May, the five-year-old ended his time with Jim Bolger rated 102 on the Flat, so has a lot of potential now sent hurdling for a trainer with a great strike-rate at the course.

Come On John (1.52 Newcastle)

Has been very consistent since joining James Owen, recording form figures of 413222, and looked very unlucky not to score at Southwell on his penultimate start, having been denied a clear run. Looks worth another chance, with the drop in trip looking in his favour, and Jason Watson, who is 1-1 for the yard, is a good jockey booking.

Fonzerelli (2.50 Ayr)

Showed useful form over hurdles in 2022, following up her victory in a Newcastle novice with success in a Listed event, in which she proved half a length too good for the 133-rated Get A Tonic, before losing out by a nose to Marsh Wren, form that looks better now given the exploits of the winner (Listed chase winner). She ran well for a long way at Carlisle last month on her second start since returning from a mammoth absence and this Irish point winner seems likely to improve for fences. She looks well handicapped on the pick of her form and seems to be versatile regarding conditions..
