Montassib (1.55 Ascot)

Montassib has thrived since dropping to 6f, looking very much like a Group horse when coming from last to first to claim the Cammidge Trophy on his reappearance in March and emphatically confirming that when landing the Sprint Cup at Haydock when last seen, which was a remarkable effort given the ground would've been far quicker than he would like. He beat loads of these that day, and got the better of Kinross in the Chipchase at Newcastle in June, and could be very hard to beat with the ground in his favour.

Wingspan (2.35 Ascot)

Wingspan has posted progressive Racing Post Ratings with each start, latterly going down by just a neck in a 1m2f Group 2 contest at the Curragh having tried to make all. She shapes as if this longer trip will suit and it's interesting that her dam Hydrangea won this race for the yard in 2017 on her first go at 1m4f. She could be a marked improver now up in trip and might be able to steal a March on them from the front under Sean Levey, while getting back on ground softer than good for the first time since winning a heavy-ground maiden in April could be a bonus.

Calandagan (3.55 Ascot)

Calandagan has been a big improver this season, winning three of his last four starts and posting a better Racing Post Rating with each run. He emphatically backed up a pair of Group 3 wins in the mud at Longchamp when storming six lengths clear in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot before going down by just a length to City Of Troy in the Juddmonte International, a run that can be marked up as he was the only one to make any significant inroads from the back. The latter is arguably stronger form than Economics' Irish Champion win, while his proven ability in heavy ground and at this track give him the nod over that rival.
