Flying Scotsman (1.58 Newcastle)

Hasn't won for 17 starts and had gone off at odds of 14-1 or bigger in nine starts for Ben Haslam before being the subject of strong support at Hamilton in September, when he finished well held in a first time visor, but he shaped much better over this course and distance in refitted cheekpieces next time. Haslam tries blinkers, which he wore for his last win when trained in Ireland, for the first time, which could spark a revival, and he should be up to taking advantage of his falling mark in the weakest contest he's faced for new connections.

Pescatorius (2.35 Catterick)

Had spent most of his life over longer distances, including on his chasing debut, but improved massively to land a course-and-distance handicap by five lengths eased-down last month. He didn't get very far when unseating Bradley Harris last time, but we know he's suited by this track and trip and can make light work of a 7lb higher mark.

Cusack (4.29 Newcastle)

Had dropped to a more suitable mark when bouncing back to form in a 1m2f handicap here in December, losing out by just a head in a four-way finish, and backed that up with a win dropped back to a mile on his penultimate start. He ran well from a 2lb higher mark last time, when unable to get in from a low draw, and he's now able to run from his lower mark, while also benefitting from Kaiya Fraser's 3lb claim. Not particularly well drawn in stall one, but this is a weak race and he could be sent on to make all.
