Three horses to include in a treble on Friday

Improved for the switch to synthetics when sent handicapping in February, winning three times from four starts on Tapeta, including comfortable successes on both his starts over course and distance. He couldn't transfer that improvement back to turf before finding the Gosforth Park Cup at Newcastle in June too tough, but he returned from a five-month break with a fine display at Wolverhampton last month, going down by just a length on his first start since being gelded. He produced a career-best RPR that day and should be spot on to maintain his perfect record over course and distance for Robert Cowell.

Ryan's Rocket (1.55 Ascot)

Winner of an Irish point in October 2022, he won twice over hurdles, giving Manuelito (now rated 121) 10lb and a three-and-three-quarter-length beating at Taunton in March before getting the better of last week’s impressive Cheltenham scorer Mirabad (now rated 130) to the tune of five and a half lengths off level weights in May. He was given the perfect introduction to chasing last month at Chepstow, where he jumped well in the main before asserting on the run, and surely has plenty left in the tank. A 7lb rise might just underestimate him.

Personal Ambition (3.05 Ascot)

He got the better of last week’s impressive Cheltenham scorer Jango Baie in a Grade 2 at Kelso in March and has looked to be crying out for this longer trip after respectable efforts in a pair of chases over two miles, including when trying to give the useful Kalif Du Berlais 4lb at Newbury last time. He’ll need to improve, but he has untapped potential over this sort of distance and should be better suited by this right-handed course, having jumped to his right last time.
