The Punt Acca: Charlie Huggins' three horse racing tips at Plumpton and Pontefract on Monday

Three horses to include in a treble on Monday . . .

Calla Lagoon (3.15 Pontefract)

Fifth on his debut at Kempton in August behind Yaroogh and the winner went on to make a successful handicap debut off a mark of 90 at Doncaster last month before following up in a Listed event at Chantilly. Calla Lagoon got off the mark at Ascot over 7f on his next start and the runner-up, third and fifth have all won since. That success came on soft ground, so testing conditions will not be an issue here for the son of New Bay, who should cope with the step up to a mile and his first start in Listed company.

Tapley (4.25 Plumpton)

Rated 1lb lower than when runner-up in Haydock’s Swinton Hurdle in May when last seen. Although he will be without Elizabeth Gale’s 7lb claim here, Gavin Sheehan is an excellent deputy. The Sue Smith-trained seven-year-old has form figures of 2173 over course and distance and has won after breaks of 237 days and 79 days, so this 163-day absence should not be an issue.

Belles Benefit (5.30 Plumpton)

Beaten only by the well-handicapped Lord Accord at Sedgefield last time and the winner went on to score by 16 lengths in a better race over fences at Wincanton on his next outing. The eight-year-old should be competitive again off a 1lb lower mark and her trainer Ben Case saddled a winner at Uttoxeter on Friday.
