The Punt Acca: Charlie Huggins' three horse racing tips at Newton Abbot
Three horses to include in a treble on Friday . . .
Shakeyatailfeather (2.10 Newton Abbot)
Has displayed promise since joining Dan Skelton, finishing a place behind subsequent two-time winner Into The Park when fourth on her stable debut at Taunton in January. The five-year-old chased home Wyenot at Kempton in March and the winner went on to finish third behind Cheltenham Festival winner Golden Ace. Shakeyatailfeather was also runner-up to Lily Du Berlais at Ayr in April before finishing sixth behind the same rival in a £50,000 series final at Kelso when last seen. She returns in calmer waters after a summer break and should be rewarded with a first success over hurdles if getting the better of main danger Authoceltic.
Asian Star (2.40 Newton Abbot)
Sent off a 5-2 for her rules debut in an 18-runner Cheltenham bumper and ran with promise to finish fifth. Although her odds-on defeat at Southwell in May initially seemed underwhelming, that form has been emphatically franked since with the winner, Gale Mahler going on to land five further races — including a Listed event at the Galway festival. Asian Star was third behind that progressive rival, beaten only six and a half lengths off level weights, and a reproduction of that performance should see her make a successful hurdling debut here.
Glynn (3.15 Newton Abbot)
Got off the mark over fences at this track and trip last month when beating Kauto The King by eight and a a half lengths. Glynn was giving 12lb to the runner-up and beat him by six lengths further than main market rival Riskintheground managed when conceding only 1lb to Kauto The King at Hereford in May. Glynn backed up that Newton Abbot victory with a 26-length success over 135-rated hurdler An Tailliur at Stratford and the ten-year-old looks primed to complete the hat-trick for Anthony Honeyball.
