El Fabiolo (2.10 Leopardstown)

Willie Mullins had a typically strong opening day of the Dublin Racing Festival with three winners but I am expecting his favourite in the Ladbrokes Dublin Chase, Gaelic Warrior, to be turned over. Last season's Arkle winner has been beaten on both of his starts over fences at Leopardstown whereas stablemate El Fabiolo is 2-2 at this track, with both of those victories coming by a combined 18 and a half lengths in Grade 1 chases at this meeting. The eight-year-old has been off the track since chasing home Jonbon in the Celebration Chase at Sandown last April but he has won after absences of 472, 236 and 227 days, so that layoff has been overly factored into the betting. He looks a big price to repeat last year's win in this race.

Hamsiyann (3.00 Musselburgh)

The five-year-old beat Long Draw, who finished five lengths ahead of subsequent Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle winner Gowel Road off a 2lb higher mark on his next outing at Cheltenham, by two and a half lengths in November. Hamsiyann also beat Wyenot, a Listed winner on her next start, by five and a quarter lengths in that Cheltenham victory and a 10lb rise may underestimate him given how exposed he is in staying events over hurdles. He was runner-up to his Northumberland Vase and Cesarewitch-winning stablemate Alphonse Le Grande over 2m2½f on the Flat at Chester, so he should relish this 3m trip over hurdles — especially with how well he stayed on up the Cheltenham hill in that 2m5f event. If trainer Tony Martin wants to target the Pertemps Final, a race he won in 2023, then Hamsiyann needs to be winning this qualifier well off his rating of 121 as 131 was bottomweight in that Cheltenham Festival race last year.

Belvedere Blast (4.05 Musselburgh)

Relished the return to 2m7f when winning at Market Rasen, where he comfortably beat the class-dropping Stay If U Want To and last-time-out winner Ithaka. Belvedere Blast also finished five lengths clear of Midnightreflection, who went on to win by 17 lengths when competing off the same terms at Plumpton, so the form looks strong. Even after a 4lb hike in the weights, the seven-year-old is effectively 13lb lower than his career-high-winning mark of 113 due to James Robottom's claim. Adrian Keatley's conditional rider can make it back-to-back wins at right-handed tracks on Belvedere Blast.
