The Punt Acca: Charlie Huggins' three horse racing tips at Doncaster and Longchamp on Sunday
Three horses to include in a treble on Sunday . . .
Exxtra (12.23 Longchamp)
Group 3 winner over course and distance in July and has to be respected dropping to the same grade here, after chasing home the unbeaten Lazzat at the highest level last time. That second-placed effort in the Prix Maurice de Gheest came off the back of being beaten a head by Group 1 winner King Gold at this track and trip in June. The four-year-old has finished in the first two on all but one of her last eight starts, with the exception being when sixth in last year's Prix de la Foret. She reversed the form with the winner of that Group 1, Kelina, on her penultimate start and this improving filly can continue her consistent season here.
Sparkling Plenty (2.57 Longchamp)
Beat five of these rivals when landing the Prix de Diane in June including Survie and Aventure, who have both won at Group 2 level on their sole starts since. Tamfana, third behind Sparkling Plenty in that Chantilly Classic, has also won a Group 3 since, and the form of the section's third-placed effort in the Nassau Stakes has also been franked by runner-up See The Fire going one better on Ebor day at York. The three-year-old has a length to find with Opera Singer on their Glorious Goodwood meeting, but the step up in trip on softer ground looks sure to favour Sparkling Plenty, who ran an excellent race on by far the quickest ground she has encountered to date.
Doom (3.15 Doncaster)
Faded to finish last of nine behind Tamfana in the Atalanta Stakes over a mile last time and the drop to 7f and ease in grade to Listed level should help the four-year-old's attempt to bounce back to form. The daughter of Dubawi chased home Friendly Soul in the Valiant Stakes on her penultimate start when giving 8lb to the winner, who followed up in a Group 2 at Deauville. Doom also beat Saturday's Group 1 Matron Stakes third Soprano by half a length at Ascot and a reproduction of that run, or her third-placed effort in the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at the royal meeting, may be enough to get back to winning ways.
