Three horses to include in a treble on Sunday . . .
Gazette Bourgeoise (1.15 Leicester)
Rated 11lb lower than her last winning mark, albeit that come over hurdles and a while ago now in January 2022. However, there was a lot to like about her most recent chasing start at Fakenham, where she was second to Telepathique, who was given a ridiculous opening mark by the handicapper. Telepathique has since followed up off 13lb higher against the geldings at Warwick where she beat Helnwein, winner of an £100,000 Sandown handicap on his previous start, by four and a quarter lengths. Gazette Bourgeoise has been dropped 1lb for her respectable effort last time and none of her rivals here are as well treated as who she chased home on her last outing.
Pembroke (2.30 Carlisle)
Dropped 1lb for finishing sixth in a Welsh Champion Hurdle that has worked out well since. The winner of that Ffos Las handicap, Lump Sum, was runner-up to Sir Gino in the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle and the runner-up, Steel Ally, went one better in a £50,000 Haydock contest on his next start. Pembroke had some solid novice chase form last season including when finishing third behind subsequent Haldon Gold Cup winner JPR One in Grade 2 company and last time was his first run over hurdles since finishing fifth at the highest level at the 2023 Grand National meeting. That effort behind the likes of Inthepocket, Strong Leader and Luccia means the seven-year-old should be well handicapped off a mark of 134, although his trainer Dan Skelton may ultimately have a grander target than this £15,000 prize.
Lunar Ocean (2.50 Leicester)
Has bumped into a couple of well treated rivals on his last two starts and could make it third time lucky here. Camino Rocio beat the selection by a length and a half at Huntingdon before defying a 6lb higher mark to win his next start by 12 lengths. Lunar Ocean has been raised only 2lb for that excellent runner-up effort and he could go one better for trainer Billy Aprahamian, who has already sent out a winner and two seconds this week.
