The Punt Acca: Charlie Huggins' nap went in on Thursday and he has three horse racing tips on Friday
Three horses to include in a treble on Friday . . .
Benson (1.20 Newcastle)
A respectable fourth when giving weight all round at Hexham on his first outing for 148 days and the runner-up Dare To Shout, who was in receipt of 5lb, scored by three lengths off 1lb higher on his next start. The nine-year-old has been dropped 3lb which means he is rated 7lb lower than his last winning mark and he also landed last year's Morebattle Hurdle off 5lb higher than this chase rating of 129. That Hexham run last month was only his second start over fences and the form of his chasing debut at Carlisle in October last year also has substance. Benson was fourth when giving 9lb to the winner Nells Son, who replicated that successful seasonal debut when beating Grand Annual winner Unexpected Party off level weights in a £50,000 graduation chase at the same track and trip on Monday. Quick ground should not be an issue for the Sandy Thomson's son of Beat Hollow, who has won on going officially described as good to firm.
Tommie Beau (2.55 Cheltenham)
Has been a superb servant to connections, having earned just shy of £175,000 in prize-money from ten chase wins and four victories over hurdles as well as a plethora of placed efforts. The nine-year-old is holding his form in both disciplines, demonstrated by the fact that he followed up a 14-length success over fences at Cartmel with another hurdles win at the same track just two days later in May. Tommie Beau beat Lisnamult Lad, who went on the win at Cheltenham off a 3lb higher mark, as well as subsequent Listed winner Take No Chances, on the second of those two wins and has form figures of 2123 since. His versatility should help him adapt to Cheltenham's cross-country track and the 3m5½f trip will not faze him, as he has won Norfolk and Durham Nationals over that sort of distance and finished third in an Eider Chase over further. The fact he is one of just two runners in the handicap behind topweight Conflated is an added bonus.
Potters Charm (3.30 Cheltenham)
Made it three out of three under rules when beating the previously unbeaten Minella Sixo by two and a quarter lengths here last month. Connections clearly think the world of the five-year-old as assistant trainer Willy Twiston-Davies said after that victory that "you've not seen anywhere near his best." That bodes well for this step up to Grade 2 company and the form of his Worcester win in September was boosted by the runner-up, Chancycourt, going one better in a 14-runner race on his sole start since. Chief market rival Valgrand was flattered by a winning margin of 17 lengths in a 2m½f Grade 2 at this track's last meeting, having been allowed to make all, and he has to concede 2lb to Potters Charm, who is more likely to be suited by the extra distance in this 2m5f event.
