The Punt Acca: Andrew Cooper's three horse racing tips at Kempton and Lingfield on Wednesday

Sassy Redhead (2.25 Lingfield)

This is Sassy Redhead’s time of year. Her form figures in the months of December, January and February read 4213212124. William Stone’s filly looked rusty on her return from 229 days off at Chelmsford in October but showed more zest in a better race than this over today’s track and trip three weeks ago. Trapped three wide without cover, she was bang there turning in but failed to quicken in the straight. Back on her last winning mark, she’s a confident pick.    

La Fleur Petrus (6.40 Kempton)

Four of the runners in the mile qualifier at Kempton are starting out for a new yard and David Menuisier’s new recruit La Fleur Petrus looks the one to be on. We can be pretty bullish that a BHA mark of 70 can be exploited given she ran a race full of promise off it when last racing for Charlie Johnston 40 days ago. Little went right, she was squeezed out at the start and raced freely towards the rear before being trapped behind a weakening rival. The way she powered home once in the clear (to be beaten just a length) bodes very well for this.  

Heartrate (8.10 Kempton)

Mark Loughnane’s gelding hasn’t won since scoring on stable/British debut last September but there were real signs of life off his much reduced mark at Wolverhampton last time. In a rare occurrence where the first three home in a Dunstall Park sprint emerged from the widest three stalls, Billy Loughnane took a more defensive approach than the first and second before picking several rivals off in the straight. Kempton should suit him better given he takes a bit of winding up.
