Taunton Placepot tips: Paul Kealy's perm for the £50k guaranteed pool

There are plenty of tough races to get through at Taunton in the Placepot, not least the opening novice handicap hurdle (12.15).

Honey Jack has fewer miles on the clock than most and could well make the required improvement, while Hi Riko ran okay on his first outing for a new yard recently and is well treated with Elizabeth Gale taking off 7lb.

The 2m½f novice hurdle (12.50) looks simple enough as Tripoli Flyer was a decent bumper horse, made a fair start when second on his hurdling debut and won't need to do much more than get round to make the first three.

King Of The Road is the main fancy for the third (1.25) and Hecouldbetheone looks sound back-up for James Owen, who can do little wrong at the moment.

Herakles Westwood is worth chancing on his chase debut in the fourth leg (2.00), although I'll add Moodofthemoment, who has taken well to fences on his second crack at them this season.

It's easy enough to make a case for more than half the field in the next (2.35), so without much confidence my three are Prairie Diamond, Zhang Fei and Sassified.

The final leg (3.10) is tough too, but Ventara shaped well on his return and jumps hurdles like a chaser, so he could have a future over fences off a low starting mark. 

The more experienced Imperial Joe has hit the frame on seven of his nine outings at Taunton and looks a reasonable second selection.
