What is a Lucky 15?

A Lucky 15 is one of the most popular multiple bets among horseracing punters and the clue is in the name as a Lucky 15 consists of 15 bets on four selections in different events. That equals four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a fourfold accumulator.

The beauty of the Lucky 15 is that only one selection of four must win to guarantee a return and the majority of bookmakers will offer incentives to play the bet.

Billytherealbigred 12.40 Cheltenham

Likeable five-year-old with a 5-9 strike-rate; unbeaten over fences, making all at Bangor (2m4f, soft) in October and strong at the finish when following up at Exeter (2m1f, soft) in December; jumped left throughout on second occasion and should be suited by this return to a left-handed track; up in grade today but still has youth on his side and a 7lb rise may not stop him.

Moon D'Orange 1.50 Cheltenham

Irish challenger; has form figures of 3342 since switched to chasing, good second behind the market leader at Newbury (2m6f) most recently; finished third here in October in a race that has worked out nicely; this novice runs off a low weight and is partnered for the first time by Sean Bowen, who has a good strike-rate for this yard; interesting.

Raffle Ticket 3.15 Doncaster

11-year-old who is untested at today's trip under rules and was pulled up at Cheltenham last month following a break; however, he may have needed the run and won here (2m4f, good to soft) last January and at Aintree (2m4f, good) last May; showed staying potential and strong form at Aintree and has a very healthy 4-10 strike-rate over fences; has bounced straight back before and may well do so again with a big performance today.

Wal Buck's 3.42 Uttoxeter

Improved with experience over fences last year and drew nicely clear of Good Work to make all at Haydock (3m1f, soft) last month; remains lightly raced and is still unexposed as a stayer; must be considered.

How to calculate your Lucky 15 returns?

How much your bet returns will depend on how many selections win, and their respective odds. For example, if two of your selections win then you can expect to be paid on on two single bets, and a double of the two selections. If three selections win then you can expect to be paid out on three singles, three doubles and a treble, and so on.
