Spotlight Lucky 15: four horses to back on Saturday
The best four Spotlight tips to include in a Lucky 15 bet today . . .
Strike Red 2.40 York
Likes York (won this race in 2022 and went close over C&D at the Ebor meeting) and goes well on ground softer than good; only tenth of 25 in the Ayr Gold Cup last time but does not have a great record at that meeting; no surprise if he bounces right back to form on the Knavesmire; tops the list.
Doyen Quest 3.20 Chepstow
Low-mileage 6yo who ended last season on an upward curve; finished strongly to beat 14 rivals at Cheltenham (2m4f, good) in April and is only 3lb higher here; still unexposed over this sort of trip; strongly considered.
Jacovec Cavern 3.40 Newmarket
Won two Flat handicaps (1m4f/1m5f) in 2022 for Mick Channon; failed to prosper over hurdles for Paul Hennessy but had 459 days off before second of 17 at the Galway Festival (2m Flat, yielding) this July for new yard, launching a strong challenge from mid-division; that was highly promising.
Alfa Kellenic 4.50 Newmarket
Has had a superb season and completed a clean sweep in five turf runs, at 6f and 7f, when winning the Ayr Silver Cup with authority, despite running off a straight line (good to firm; has won on good to soft); not ideally drawn on the flank but she's ready for the rise in class and Ryan Moore has his first ride for the yard.
