Southwell Placepot tips: Robbie Wilders' picks for the £50,000 guarantee

It's doubtful the handicapper has caught up with hat-trick-seeking Caramay, who has a great chance in the 1m3f fillies' handicap (4.10) that opens the Placepot at Southwell.

Minelone showed enough when fourth on his debut at Wolverhampton to suggest he can take a race like the first division of the 7f novice (4.45). He has the best form and none of the newcomers makes much appeal on pedigree or connections.

The second division (5.15), however, looks ripe for a winning debutant. Go with Empress Matilda, an Al Kazeem filly who is out of Roger Varian's Royal Ascot-winning juvenile Daahyeh.

The Varian-trained Spetses, who was favourite for his debut at Newcastle this month and shaped slightly better than the bare result, looks the one to side with in the mile maiden (5.45).

The 7f handicap (6.15) is comfortably the trickiest of the six races to solve. It Just Takes Time arrives in top form and a reproduction of his recent Leicester success will ensure he is competitive, while getting back on the all-weather should suit Chuzzlewit

Berkshire Sundance beat a hotpot in good style at Salisbury last time and looks the one to rely on in the 1m6f handicap (6.45) that concludes the perm.
