Southwell Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his selections for a £50,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote’s £50,000 Placepot guarantee is at Southwell on Friday and the opening 1m4f handicap (4.30) looks a good opportunity for a banker with Paradoxical, who would be coming here on a four-timer but for one narrow defeat and remains unexposed at the distance.

The 7f handicap (5.00) is the feature on the card and looks like it might be between Palmar Bay and Lattaash. Both come into the race in excellent form and should be included.

Stardancer looks the class act in the 6f novice (5.30) and rates banker material, while progressive dual course-and-distance winner Whizz By could be placed in the 7f handicap (6.00).

The 7f fillies’ handicap (6.30) comes up next and Starsong looks to have an obvious chance following a good second at Lingfield last time over 6f. Rapido Girl rates the best alternative.

Bernie The Bear will be a big player in division one of the 6f classified (7.00) following a good run at Wolverhampton on Monday. However, it’s also worth putting Piperstown in the perm.
