Handicappers' nap

Calandagan (3.55 Ascot)

Wide-margin winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot under Stephane Pasquier, this progressive gelding improved again to chase home City Of Troy in the Juddmonte International. Sets the standard on that effort and, having finished fast from a poor position at York, could be capable of better still.

Eyecatcher

Hitched (5.30 Wolverhampton)

David Simcock's gelding won a division of this race last year and has slipped back to a mark 1lb lower. He caught the eye at Lingfield last time and looks primed to run well in his repeat bid.

The Punt nap

Wingspan (2.35 Ascot)

Has posted progressive RPRs with each start, latterly going down by just a neck in a 1m2f Group 2 contest at the Curragh having tried to make all. Her dam won this race for Aidan O'Brien in 2017 on her first go at 1m4f and she could be a marked improver now up in trip.

Newmarket nap

Trawlerman (1.20 Ascot)

Fancied to repeat his win from 12 months ago after some decent work on the Al Bahathri Polytrack.

Speed figures

Wen Moon (4.45 Catterick)

Has gone close on a few occasions this season and a repeat of the speed figure he clocked at Pontefract off a higher mark suggests he must go close off today's figure.

Dark horse

Mexicali Rose (4.35 Ascot)

Twice placed in Listed events in Ireland this season. Stayed on well at Tipperary latest and should run well for the in-form Joseph O'Brien.
