Sandown Placepot picks: Paul Kealy's perm for the £100,000 guaranteed pool
Honky Tonk Highway is likely to be a short-priced favourite for Sandown's opener (12.08), especially with Admiral Stewart having run at the course on Friday.
Banking on heavy ground in a Placepot can be dangerous, but we might just get away with it here, even if there are a couple of interesting rivals.
The following mares' handicap hurdle (12.40) is one of the toughest races on the card, and I'll go with three who will all be reasonable prices.
Ottoline stays further, which will be an advantage, while Hard As Nails has won both times she has raced on soft ground, and Good Look Charm goes well fresh and could give her 10lb claimer a good spin round.
In the third (1.15), Henri The Second is expected to improve for a proper test of stamina, while Operation Manna won the race last year and should go well again.
The Grade 1 novice chase (1.50) might not be a gimme for L'Eau Du Sud as this is a talented field, and it's a race made tricky by the fact they can all front-run.
That said, it remains to be seen whether the Irish raiders will travel, given the forecast Storm Darragh high winds, and they won't have much fun if they do, so he remains by far the likeliest winner.
Altobelli, Knickerbockerglory and Spirit D'Aunou are the three who stand out in the fifth (2.25) against a couple of market rivals with a bit to prove in the conditions, but I won't be taking on Jonbon (3.00) in the final leg as he's in his element at Sandown and has a class edge on all known form.
