Robbie Wilders' play of the day at Southwell
Kylian
Archie Watson is one of the best in the business with sprinters and he was always eventually going to find the key to Kylian, who ran out an impressive winner on his seventh start for the yard at Newcastle last month and a 7lb rise should not be enough to stop him if he's in the same form in Southwell's 5f handicap (6.00).
Kylian was a smart juvenile last year for Karl Burke and won the Dragon Stakes at Sandown by six lengths, but he lost his form afterwards and it has taken him a while to click into gear since joining Watson.
After showing glimpses of promise on turf this summer, Kylian returned from a 76-day break with a comfortable success at Gosforth Park to extend his unbeaten all-weather record and there is surely more to come from him on the sand.
The three-year-old might be 9lb worse off with Equilateral for a three-and-a-half-length victory there, but Charlie Hills's gelding is nine now and past his best, while there is no reason Kylian can't step forward again with that run behind him.
That was not the first time Kylian has thrived at Newcastle and, while Southwell will present a different sort of test, he seems certain to get the strong pace he requires to show his best with rapid front-runner Night On Earth in opposition and a couple of others who also like to stride on.
