Robbie Wilders' play of the day at Newcastle
El Bufalo
Dylan Cunha appears to be a trainer going places and both his runners on the Newcastle card appeal, starting with El Bufalo in the 5f handicap (6.00).
Cunha thinks a bit of El Bufalo as he ran him in a conditions race over 7f at Newmarket's Craven meeting after he landed his maiden in good style over the minimum trip at Wolverhampton.
Unsurprisingly, horses such as Ten Bob Tony and Boiling Point proved too classy for El Bufalo there, but he didn't stay anyway. He's since re-found his form as a sprinter, going close at Chelmsford this month on his first start following a gelding operation.
There was plenty of depth to that race and El Bufalo, who was never far away from a hot pace throughout, did excellently to last out for as long as he did behind one who was ridden cold. That performance suggests he is well treated and he looks a lightly raced sprinter to keep onside.
