Paul Kealy's play of the day at Cheltenham

Some Scope

2.20 Cheltenham

Broadway Boy sits almost at the top of the weights for this handicap chase, and with course form figures of 1211, the last coming in a handicap off just 3lb lower when he was backed down to 11-8, he has to be given some serious respect despite two subsequent poor runs away from Cheltenham.

However, he may find it hard conceding 23lb to the progressive Some Scope, who had a fine first season over fences himself last year, winning two of his five outings and finishing second in the Grimthorpe on soft ground that he is not supposed to like.

His best form is at Doncaster, where he'd cruised to victory on good before lining up for the Grimthorpe, but he wasn't far off it when a close fourth in a New course handicap on his final outing in the spring, and this six-year-old with low mileage is still at the right end of the handicap to do more damage this season.
