Newmarket Placepot tips: Paul Kealy's perm for the £50k guaranteed pool

Fair Point is the main selection for Newmarket's opener (1.50) but there's no denying the claims of favourite Sirona, who has the best form, and at least one of those two should deliver for Placepot purposes.

We're going to need soft-ground horses, so the proven ability of Sea Of Roses on such a surface makes her the call in the second (2.25), while the unexposed Place Of Safety has an action that suggests she'll be fine (dam's best form on soft), so she's the back-up.

I can't believe Formal's form makes her anywhere near her opening price for the Rockfel (3.00), so will happily oppose her, first with Aidan O'Brien's Bubbling, who probably should have won in Listed company last time, and also with Definitive, who is going to relish this extra furlong.

In the fourth (3.35) I like the chances of Prague sticking at a mile, while Poker Face has seemingly been teased back to form by Simon and Ed Crisford and will relish every drop of rain that falls.

Archivist is just preferred over Seaplane of those who have run in the fifth (4.10), but it won't be a surprise if a newcomer scores and the obvious one is Secret Theory for Charlie Appleby and William Buick.

In the final leg (4.45), there's no telling how good Military Academy is going to be, but he has looked the part on easy ground twice, while main rivals Epic Poet and Aimeric probably want it quicker than is likely, so I'll bank on the John and Thady Gosden three-year-old.
