Newmarket Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway's selections for a £50,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote’s £50,000 Placepot guarantee is at Newmarket on Wednesday and it won’t be easy to win with so many juvenile races. The first is a 7f novice (1.45) and the form horses don’t set a fearsome standard, so it’s worth giving the newcomers Qarlyga and With Zest the vote.

The following 7f novice (2.20) is another guessing game with little form on offer. Mudbir is a half-brother to Group 1 hero Mostahdaf and goes in alongside Pinhole, who is also well bred.

The 1m2f maiden (2.55) has attracted only seven runners and just two places will be on offer. Arabian Poet is surely better than he showed on his debut and goes in with The Cursor.

The 1m2f nursery (3.30) looks like a match between Anniversary and Watching Stars, so put both in, but the following mile fillies’ handicap (4.05) is a good chance to bank on Zapphire.

The mile novice (4.40) should go to Present Times, who was second over course and distance on his debut and rates another banker.
