Newcastle Placepot tips: Paul Kealy's perm for the £50,000 guaranteed pool

It's off to Newcastle for the Tote's £50k Placepot guarantee, which means a lot of low-grade, all-weather handicaps, but I've seen more competitive cards.

In the first (1.52) , Come On John has been in the form of his life since October (form figures 413222) and he should be hard to keep out of the frame again.

In the 0-50 Classified Stakes (2.27), Busby will be favourite after bouncing back in a first-time visor to beat Come On John at Southwell last time and he'll be hard to beat if reproducing that run. He did win back-to-back races when first running in cheekpieces, but that was more than six years ago, so Rubellite, running well lately, goes in too.

Noble Consort is arguably the one to beat in the next (3.02) after getting off the mark last time, but he's been beaten off similar marks before, so I prefer Spartan Fighter, who ran well in a better race than this last time and is on his last winning mark, and Doon The Glen.

In the fourth (3.32) I'm quite keen on the chances of Oriental Prince. I thought he won with a fair bit in hand in a first-time hood last time and that could be the making of him.

The only maiden on the card (4.05) ought to go to General Admission, second at Kempton on his debut in what looked a fair race (Goldolphin-owned third won a 16-runner maiden at Doncaster next time), and Angel Of Antrim, 6lb well in under his penalty, is likely to be very short in the last leg. (4.40).
