Newcastle Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway's selections for a £50,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote’s £50,000 Placepot guarantee is at Newcastle on Monday and the opening 1m4½f handicap (3.22) is a good opportunity for a banker, provided all nine go to post. Desert Emperor shaped well when third at Southwell last month and might be able to build on that.

The 5f handicap (3.55) comes up next and Bella Kopella is well handicapped and has course form. Put her into the perm with Castan, who ran well over course and distance last month.

The following 5f novice (4.30) is tricky. Dc Cogent will be a warm order after a good second over course and distance last time and goes in with Kevin Ryan’s debutante Star Zia.

Rohaan might hold a class edge in the 6f handicap (5.00) and is included with Altmore, while two are needed in the following mile novice (5.30). Stick with Indalo and Kingdom Of Time.

The mile handicap (6.00) is the final leg and it’s another difficult one. Quiet Resolve has run well here twice and returns here for the first time in a while. Barleybrown could also go well.
