Newcastle Placepot picks: Paul Kealy's selections for the £50,000 guaranteed pool

Breccia is the forecast favourite for Newcastle's opener (3.35), which is hardly surprising given he won so well last time and his stable is in great form, but he's hardly prolific and has never been to this track.

He's hard to leave out of Placepot considerations, but Liberated Lad has to go in too as he ran much better than his finishing position suggests last time.

The following classified stakes (4.10) is tricky, but a drop to this level signalled some sort of return to form for Martin's Brig last time, and he can go well, while Eva Rosie shaped much better here eight days ago and can be a player with a clear run.

In the novice (4.45), Sovereign Sea might be short, but the form of his debut win in a four-runner race is not working out well at all, and Parkland's claims are more solid in receipt of 7lb.

Oriental Prince couldn't bring up the hat-trick when stepped back up to 6f here eight days ago, but he goes back to 5f in the fourth (5.15) and that's likely to suit him a lot better. He should be hard to keep out of the top three.

In the fifth (5.45), Agent Mayfair is the main pick, but Gunnerside had been running consistently until last time when he was reportedly restless in the stalls, so he's worth another chance. Believe Me Now is added for some extra cover.

On his 5f form at the track, Three Beauz is interesting in the last (6.15), with recent winner Desert Master a likely threat despite being a little bit badly in under his penalty for winning last time.
