Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings
Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .
Down Royal
1.30: Speculatrix
Colm Murphy, Henry de Bromhead and Gordon Elliott have provided the last three winners of this race and the former two have potent challengers in Savante and Mystical Goddess, but the Cullentra runner Speculatrix would have bolted up on her hurdles bow at Killarney but for falling at the last and can win this.
Justin O'Hanlon
Dundalk
7.00: Letiza
Following a good debut run for Henry de Bromhead at Cork recently when well-backed, Letiza can recoup losses here, with likely threats coming from Punk Poet, Perfect Judgement and Rampage. Black Storm is the dark horse.
Alan Hewison
Newcastle
2.30: Charlotte's Web
The progressive Typical Woman, recent dual C&D winner Three Platoon and the consistent Humble Spark all hold solid claims on form, but the lack of a confirmed front-runner means this could be steadily run and that could pose a problem. This race has gone to a 3yo in each of the last two years and can do so again courtesy of Charlotte's Web. She won nicely on her Wolverhampton handicap debut and, having only made her debut in July, it's likely she still has improvement left.
David Bellingham
Newmarket
1.43: Kodilicious
Jessica Harrington's Kodilicious won a Sligo maiden that has worked out terrifically well and her latest rallying effort under a big weight in the always-strong Birdcatcher Nursery at Naas was a solid run, especially when her jockey later reported that she failed to handle the track. Magic Mild is getting better by the race and is hard to knock, while her previous encounter with the battle-hardened It Ain't Two brings that one into the equation. Running Queen is another to bear in mind.
Alistair Jones
Uttoxeter
2.35: Hawaii Du Mestivel
Top of the list is hat-trick-seeker Hawaii Du Mestivel who won in emphatic style at Fontwell and Bangor in his last two runs. He's 14lb higher than for his last success but he still looks feasibly treated and is open to more improvement. The other recent winner Honneur d'Ajonc is feared most, athough Chankaya scored on his final run last season and has claims if he can pick up where he left off. My Monty and Tommie Gun also enter the reckoning along with handicap newcomer Horsesomeharry.
David Moon
Wetherby
1.50: Luckie Seven
Welsh Charger is an interesting candidate after his summer break but this could involve the two unexposed handicap debutants, with dual Perth winner Luckie Seven preferred to Plumpton scorer Kaituna River.
Colin Russell
