Nap of the day: the best horse racing tips from the day's five meetings

Friday's selections from Dundalk, Ffos Las, Musselburgh, Newbury and Southwell

Dundalk

7.15: Harry The Rogue

Runner-up on his last three runs, Harry The Rogue gets the vote to step up a place having seen out this trip well when beaten by an in-form rival last time. Likely dangers include dual C&D winner Miss Abby Jools, four-time course scorer Mullacash Buzz, and Jackandthefox, a maiden whose two most recent runs provide grounds for optimism.

4.15: Wasthatok

We haven't seen much of Wasthatok since summer 2023 but his run at Ludlow last month was very encouraging and he is selected to capitalise upon some help from the handicapper. Kerry Lee's 7yo sat close to the pace when he won over hurdles in Ireland and may benefit from a return to more positive tactics here. Unexposed 6yo Leech is untested on ground quicker than good to soft but he ran well for a long way when third here three weeks ago and is second choice, ahead of his stablemate Mount Washington.

Musselburgh

3.50: Rockola Vogue

A lopsided series final in which very useful topweight All The Glory pushes most of her rivals out of the handicap. She moves back up in trip after a creditable third here in last month's Scottish County Hurdle and is not opposed lightly but there is more to come from Rockola Vogue, and she gets the nod. David Killahena and Graeme McPherson's mare was a long way off the pace after some slow jumping in the early stages of her recent handicap debut and, in the circumstances, did very well to finish second. Thriving veteran Lady Babs is next on the list.

Newbury

4.37: Mahler Moon

Pachacuti (second choice) bumped into a sharp improver here last time over a trip short of his best and, not only is he returning to 3m, but Ben Bromley can now claim his 5lb. Super Sabre Sam is feared on his first foray over 3m and so too is handicap debutant Murphy's Milan, whose pedigree is all stamina. However, last year's runner-up Mahler Moon might scupper them all if he can make the anticipated progress from his run at Taunton over an inadequate trip after three months away.

Southwell

8.30: Cloud King

Moulin Booj and Popular Dream are effective over C&D and come here in good form but there are some interesting sprinters returning from a break. Chief amongst them is Cloud King, who bolted up over C&D on last season's reappearance and appeals as the type to enjoy a productive 4yo campaign. Momaer is feared most, but Tan Rapido and Sevensees shouldn't be underestimated either.
