Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings
Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .
Ascot
3.20: Martator
Progressive MARTATOR (nap) is taken to complete a five-timer and maintain his unbeaten C&D record. Kotmask (second choice) ties in with the selection, while Sans Bruit, Marvel De Cerisy and Prince Quali are interesting contenders who may well have more to offer.
Steve Boow
Haydock
2.30: Patriotik
The step up in trip could be just what PATRIOTIK (nap) needs after his staying-on fifth in the 2m3f Silver Trophy at Chepstow last month. Catch Him Derry is highly progressive and could pose the main threat. Gwennie May Boy completes a strong hand for Dan Skelton, while Kerryhill, One Big Bang and Irish challengers Shoot First and Backmersackme are others to be interested in.
Ben Hutton
Huntingdon
1.58: Lilting Verse
Moonlit Potter and Baby Shally (preferred in that order) are interesting chasing prospects for the season ahead but this looks good for LILTING VERSE (nap), who has already made a pleasing start to her career over fences this autumn and may have a fitness edge.
Chris Wilson
Punchestown
1.35: Magic Tricks
An open race and cases can be made for most. The consistent Law Ella has to give weight all round but she has the best overall form and has a leading chance. Watch The Weather will appreciate being back in handicap company, while Walnut Beach should run his race. Preference is for MAGIC TRICKS(nap), who is well handicapped over fences, has ground coming in his favour and could well appreciate the trip.
Justin O'Hanlon
Newcastle
4.40: Commander Atkinson
Last-time-out winners So Darn Hot and Laurens Dream must be considered, with slight preference for the latter on account of her course experience, but the verdict goes to COMMANDER ATKINSON (nap). Geoff Oldroyd's colt has returned from a break in top form and his close third in a similar event at Southwell last month suggested a first success was just around the corner.
Richard O'Brien
Wolverhampton
4.25: Drifts Away
This looks competitive but top of the list is the progressive 3yo DRIFTS AWAY (nap), who was a creditable second in his hat-trick bid at Lingfield ten days ago and that form was boosted when the winner followed up under a penalty. Ten-time winner Love Your Work had a near miss at Southwell last time and he's feared most ahead of Unreal Connection, who was an eyecatcher over 7f here last week. Others to consider are Retraction and Book Of Life.
