Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Bath

5.05: Glamorous Breeze

Level Up comes here in good form and ought to be involved, while the unexposed Caribbean Wind still has time to do better and Danger Alert returned to form at Sandown on Friday. Glamorous Breeze has been in and out this season but she's down in the weights and, with a drying forecast in her favour, could find that this sets up nicely for her.

Chester

2.40: Emiyn

Their absences since May ask a question but Emiyn and Aqwaam caught the eye when second and sixth in that month's Chester Cup, given that the race developed far from ideally for either of them. If he's fit enough and avoids a slow start this time, Emiyn in particular can go extremely well today, with this much softer ground also likely to be a help. Vera Verto, one of the Irish raiders, is second on the list given what she showed last time out. Goobinator is seriously considered too, while soft ground prompted a big upturn in fortunes for Tashkhan at this track last September.

Doncaster

3.40: Illinois

On ratings there is little between five of the seven who contest this year's running of the oldest Classic. Three are trained by Aidan O'Brien, with Illinois having looked a prime candidate from almost three months ago, when Jan Brueghel had barely started his career and Grosvenor Square had not recaptured his mojo. The latter is likely to set a strong pace, which will ask a tactical question of the other jockeys as this is not the sort of race in which one could comfortably allow a leading contender to establish a big lead. Stamina should come to the fore if he is to be reeled in and Illinois has done most to persuade that this is his strong suit, while the sheer potential of Jan Brueghel puts him second on the list. While Derby fourth Deira Mile is not entirely ruled out with the step up in trip, it's Irish Derby second Sunway and Irish Oaks winner You Got To Me who are the top-rated British-trained runners, but this prize is probably heading back to Ballydoyle.

Leopardstown

2.15: Maljoom

Poker Face and Mountain Bear could be capable of getting involved, but this looks like it could be between two principals. The drop back to 1m after his runaway win in the Meld Stakes should hold no fears for Diego Velazquez. However, the proven Group 1 form shown over a mile by Maljoom in the Queen Anne and Sussex Stakes will make him hard to beat.

Lingfield

3.50: Shamardia

Phoenix Moon was seen to maximum effect here two weeks ago and she's not certain to confirm those placings with Katie G (second choice). Shamardia got off the mark here nine days ago and may well defy a small rise in the weights.

Musselburgh

6.50: Clasina

Last year's winner Showtime Mahomes is likely to be popular after stretching his unbeaten Musselburgh record to three last month, while Ramon Di Loria nearly always gives his running and Rory (second choice) is the type to bounce back to form on this course. But if there's an unexposed one in the line-up it's probably Clasina who came close to springing a surprise at Haydock last week and could be open to a fair bit more improvement for Katie Scott.
