Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Cheltenham

4.10: Potters Charm

This doesn't look that strong a novice by Cheltenham standards and opportunity knocks for Potters Charm to go 3-3 under rules. Minella Sixo jumped out to his right at Fairyhouse but that's not stopped Gordon Elliott bringing him here and he did win well. His compatriot Cloonainra can't be ruled out, nor likely improvers Kingston James and First Confession.

Doncaster

3.18: Altmore

The very lightly raced three-year-old Altmore coasted to victory on his recent handicap debut at Pontefract and can take an 11lb rise in his stride. Jehangeer has been struggling for form but the return to slow ground (and possibly the first-time blinkers) could be a positive and he is second choice ahead of the three-year-old Zoum Zoum. Wodao can give another good account.

Dundalk

5.30: Sayifyouwill

This looks like a good opportunity for Sayifyouwill to gain another all-weather success. She was a winner in Britain on her penultimate start and arrives on the back of a promising course and distance effort last week. Last year's winner Chica Power has a tougher task this year but has place claims and Catherine Chroi at the top of the weights isn't ruled out returning for her former yard.

Newbury

1.41: Hartur D'Oudairies

The key question may appear to be whether Zikany can back up the form he showed to win so easily on heavy ground at Goodwood 12 days ago, which he failed to do in the same two races in 2022. While Russian Rumour has done well in the mud recently, the most interesting alternative to Zikany is Hartur D'Oudairies, who is a bumper and 2m hurdle winner, runner-up once at 2m4f, but has been confined to mile and 1m2f hitherto in his new Flat career.

Sligo

4.50: Crossing The Bar

Cian Collins has been a trainer to follow at Sligo this year and he might strike again at the track's final meeting of the year with Crossing The Bar, who made up a lot of late ground on stable debut at Clonmel. Ragin Cajun could go well at a price and the return of cheekpieces should help Temptationinmilan but the absence of any headgear on Donacheady Gale is puzzling.

Wolverhampton

8.15: Newfangled

There are several here with a chance but the in-form three-year-old Newfangled is progressive and he looked better than ever when winning for the third time on his latest start. Bay Of Australia has been tried over a variety of trips but if he can repeat his second over course and distance last month then he looks the main danger. Others to consider include course winner City Cyclone, the lightly raced Maith An Farhh and Khangai for his new trainer.
