Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Dundalk

4.40: Ateenosix

This won't take much winning. The top rated Ateenosix is well treated by the conditions of the race and this looks a good opportunity for him to get off the mark. Hezahunk and My Girl Sioux have both run well over C&D before and could give the selection most to think about.

Haydock

4.00: Filibustering

Strength in stamina may see Filibustering home in front this time, after traffic problems prevented him from having a proper crack at a valuable C&D handicap three weeks ago. He is unraced on heavy ground but won by 9l in May on the last occasion he encountered soft. Sam Hawkens, a heavy-ground maiden winner, is feared most on his second run for William Haggas, but Calvert and Minstrel Knight also need plenty of respect.

Listowel

5.00: Weston

Plenty with chances here. Seddon has been a star for connections and he should go well, as should Omniscient. Jetara is a classy hurdler and will handle the testing ground and she can't be discounted if fit for her Flat debut but slight preference is for the top rated Weston. He had an excuse last time at Galway, he has won on soft ground and a repeat of his Navan effort in May could be enough to win this. Karl Des Tourelles and Garrybello have outside place claims at bigger odds.

Newmarket

4.45: Aimeric

The solid option appears to be Aimeric, who has consistently run well this summer to give himself leading form claims, including from his run on soft ground last time out. The unbeaten twice-raced Military Academy has to be feared, though, given the mighty impression he's left in his two novice races, and Epic Poet put himself into serious calculations with his breakthrough win in a major handicap last time.

Wolverhampton

6.00: Dutch Kingdom

A few of these lurk on dangerous marks, notably Triggered and The Bitter Moose, but the two to focus on could be Ultramarine and Dutch Kingdom. The selection has a formidable record in Class 5 handicaps on the AW and he can make light of a penalty for last week's impressive Chelmsford success.

Worcester

2.00: Moodofthemoment

Cases can be made for several of these but top of the list is four-time point winner Moodofthemoment, who ran well in defeat over C&D on his first two starts for Matt Sheppard and was one of two to go clear of the others when losing out only by a neck on the latter occasion. Lermoos Legend scores good marks for his consistency in recent months and is second choice, while Omaha Wish could still have quite a bit more to offer over fences.
