Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Dundalk

5.45: Psalm

Just denied here last week under a canny front-running ride over 1m4f, Psalm can go one better back down in trip. Yesterday's Curragh winner Apercu, along with Gesture and Walhaan look the most likely to follow the selection home.

Fakenham

3.45: Callin Baton Rouge

Recent Fontwell scorer Honneur d'Ajonc seems sure to go well despite taking a 6lb weights rise and the returning Toonagh Warrior can also have a say. But Callin Baton Rouge hasn't looked back since joining her current yard and is taken to make light of another hefty rise in the weights and complete a four-timer.

Haydock

3.30: Trilby

In-form Trilby has a good chance of gaining a third Haydock success and first over 5f. Seantrabh, who ran very encouragingly last time, is feared most ahead of Our Absent Friends, who remains of interest with the cheekpieces retained.

Newcastle

5.00: Something

This appears to rest between the three-year-olds and, if turning out again after his all-the-way win over course and distance on Tuesday, Something should be hard to beat despite the 6lb penalty. The best alternative looks to be Arazzo, who enjoyed no luck at Yarmouth last time and represents a trainer with a good strike-rate here. Miss Monte Carlo looks best of the rest.

Redcar

2.27: Project Dante

Parisiac (second choice) can go well dropped in class but the course-and-distance handicap won by Project Dante last month could prove the key formline. While the selection had prime track position, he did win with more to spare than the winning margin might indicate and a 2lb rise could prove lenient, all the more so in light of his former glory.

Uttoxeter

3.55: Ballybegg

This will take a bit of winning. The recent rain is a concern for Dargiannini, while Pretending would probably prefer conditions closer to good than soft. Ballybegg often gives his true running here and the handicapper has given him every chance of returning to form. Lac De Constance is second choice.
