Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Chepstow

3.15: Flying Fortune

All of these still have potential but the most appealing one is FLYING FORTUNE (nap), who travelled well before keeping on readily to win a competitive and valuable series final at Worcester a fortnight ago. Juventus De Brion (second choice) was placed in a strong Ascot novice when last seen in February and, after only two starts, remains very unexposed. Intense Approach won his last two races in good style, while Ryan's Rocket and Handlethekettle are both likely to be suited by today's step in trip.

Downpatrick

3.55: Prends Garde A Toi

A weak-looking maiden in which PRENDS GARDE A TOI (nap) could be hard to beat if avoiding serious error on hurdles debut.

Dundalk

5.25: Proxima Centauri

This can go the way of the well-bred PROXIMA CENTAURI (nap) who is the third foal of top mare Alpha Centauri. Her latest placed effort at Leopardstown has been boosted by the winner landing a Listed race and this filly can continue on her own upward curve. Reponse Finale looks like the main threat after last week's narrow defeat at Down Royal and any support for Meg's A Star would make that one interesting on debut.

Kempton

7.15: The Glen Rovers

Ocean Heights will appreciate the return to Kempton and can go well despite top weight, while the hat-trick seeking Throubi and last-time-out winners Outgun and Rockit Tommy (second choice) also come right into the reckoning. THE GLEN ROVERS (nap) had a setback on soft ground last month but he won on the all-weather on either side of it and can take another step up the ladder.

Newmarket

4.10: Brioni

The most likely improvers seem to be BRIONI (nap), Mount Atlas (second choice) and Kildare Legend. The last two of those have already tried 1m4f and won but Brioni may well hold too much potential for them, because he is given his first crack at the trip and there is plenty to suggest that it will suit him admirably. There's less to suggest that it will suit Due To Henry but he still needs respect, while Kamboo might be able to bounce back from his poor show on soft ground at Ascot.

York

2.40: The Reverend

Five of these won last time but nothing makes more appeal than THE REVEREND (nap), who showed much-improved form to beat a previous winner on soft ground at Ascot on his handicap debut, in the process shaping as though this longer trip would suit. He's open to plenty of further improvement and is taken to beat recent heavy-ground winners Who's Glen and Minstrel Knight.
