Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings
Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Cheltenham
1.50: King Turgeon
While there are positives about the others, calculations seem to be dominated by Chianti Classico and KING TURGEON. Kim Bailey's 2024 Festival hero brings a superb record and is such a likeable sort, extremely hard to pass over, but there's a good chance that King Turgeon in receipt of 24lb will prove too hot for him, so well has he won on both his starts this season.
Richard Austen
Doncaster
1.57: Nickelforce
Sageburg Country has made the frame in two higher-grade races this autumn and is respected but there could still be a lot more to come from NICKELFORCE, who has taken very well to fences in recent months. The form of his fairly comfortable success at Ludlow in October has been well advertised by the clear second since, and this thriving 5yo could still be ahead of the handicapper. Pearly Island also has good claims, while Bobhopeornohope hinted at a possible revival here last month and remains on a very dangerous mark.
Chris Wilson
Bangor
2.40: Strackan
Plaisir Des Flos is a strong contender after another personal best at Cheltenham and this trip should be within range for him, while Mahland could be set for another productive season. Henry Daly has described STRACKAN as "gormless" in the past but he's getting his act together now and jumped like an old hand when making all at Uttoxeter.
Alistair Jones
Cork
2.12: Nevereverever
This is a quick reappearance for One And Only who had a hard race when winning a novice handicap over C&D on Sunday. He battled well but is 6lb higher and may not cope with NEVEREVEREVER (nap) who can step up on seconds at Roscommon and Sligo. Donegal Danny seems to be improving, and Garcon Doux has a solid chance on the form shown over hurdles before a failure in a handicap chase.
Alan Sweetman
Southwell
7.45: Just Typical
Few of these are solid. The maidens Northern Cracksman, Upper Hand and Shaka could make some sort of impact, while United Force also makes the shortlist as at least he knows how to win. However, JUST TYPICAL looks the best option given that he has been running well on Tapeta in recent months, while the form of last week's Newcastle second can probably be marked up.
David Bellingham
Dundalk
6.00: Lady Pagasa
Johnny Murtagh seems to be getting a tune out of LADY PAGASA since her switch from Britain and while she was turned over at odds on here (6f) last time, the marked drop in trip did her no favours and the return to seven furlongs looks ideal. Prince Of Love should improve from a promising debut and Authenticate can continue on her upward curve.
