Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlight team

Ascot

1.15: Kotmask

There was no disgrace in chasing home the upwardly mobile Martator in two handicaps here last month and this looks a better opportunity for Kotmask, with the longer trip and softer ground raising expectations. Making a case for the selection brings Scarface firmly into the equation on their previous encounters, while Galop De Chasse, Prince Quali and Solo can all be expected to run well. Alistair Jones

Haydock

2.05: Famous Bridge

Last year's winner Famous Bridge is just 2lb higher this time around and earns the vote on the back of his promising reappearance second at Kelso. Regal Blue also showed a liking for testing ground at Haydock last season and this unexposed 7yo is feared most ahead of Frenchy Du Large and the bang-in-form East Street. Ben Hutton

Hereford

1.38: Regatta De Blanc

The last five editions of this valuable mares' chase (previously run as a series final) have been won by Venetia Williams, so her runner Lagonda needs to be taken very seriously off a career-low mark. However, it's a much deeper race this year and the suggestion is former pointer/hunter chaser Regatta De Blanc, who was a good second at Ascot on her second start for Paul Nicholls and still has plenty of scope for progress. Harrys Hope (progressive) and Moonlit Potter (unexposed) also make significant appeal. Lady Balko is in terrific form but is very unlikely to enjoy an uncontested lead today. Chris Wilson

Newcastle

6.30: William Dewhirst

Tomorrow Day has form figures of 11141 at this track since September and he should make another bold bid. Alreet Cha (second choice) resumed her progress with a close call back at 7f here last time, while Streak Lightning also enters the reckoning along with King's School, who has been knocking on the door in similar handicaps this autumn. However, the vote goes to William Dewhirst, who has turned things around back on Tapeta recently and completed a C&D double in good style 12 days ago. David Moon

Thurles

3.05: Drumgill

This can go the way of Drumgill who took the scalp of a nice prospect over fences here last time and a repeat of that level of form back over timber may be good enough. Brave Fortune and Sequoiaspirit are potential improvers up in trip and both Grooveykindoflove and Takt De Touques are on a roll at present. Phill Anderson

Wolverhampton

6.15: Alfheim

A number of these arrive with a question mark against them so this looks a very good opportunity for George Boughey's Alfheim to continue her excellent start for her new yard and follow up her recent course success. C&D winner Black Smoke could emerge as the main danger with Dark Mystery and Grand Duchess Olga in the mix too. Peter Entwistle
