The Kubler yard has been enjoying a good spell and recent C&D winner Happy Tears, who's had a light campaign, is selected to defy a 2lb higher mark at the main expense of last year's heroine The Waiting Game, who bids to make it five from six over C&D. How Impressive, who returns to the AW off 10lb lower than when last seen on it, thanks to a dry spell on turf, is another to consider, while bookmakers' best buddy Nogo's Dream will doubtless have his supporters again.

3.45: Antelope Canyon

Apples And Bananas holds the best form credentials, but over 1m so could prove vulnerable to a speedier type here. Antelope Canyon could fit that bill, having battled well to hold off a strong favourite over 6f at Naas and who could improve for this longer trip. The selection's stablemate Garden Of Eden comes very much into the mix on her recent Listed second, while it would be folly to dismiss the claims of American Bar, back from a break after a disappointing Group run here last time.

Wiltshire has to be the starting point as he's looked hugely promising in two of his three runs for William Haggas and still appeals as being ahead of his mark and a Group horse in waiting. He has been guilty of being ponderous at the start, however, and that wouldn't be ideal now that he is dropping to 5f for the first time. Jer Batt, last year's winner Never Dark, veteran Hyperfocus and Blind Beggar (second choice) all have something to recommend them but Aberama Gold races on proper deep ground for the first time this year and it could spark a full revival. Thrown in on last year's best, he's repeatedly hinted that he retains a good chunk of ability this year and the ease with which he travelled through last season's Stewards' Cup lingers in the memory.

Getting weight from the winners Black Heather and Windbeneathmywings, Addragoole can go one better than his two previous outings. The other winner Not Now Darling is respected, while Heads Up is most interesting of the newcomers.

A case can be made for a few of these but it's still hard to ignore the claims of Got Grey who is improving fast under the tutelage of Dan Skelton and taken to overcome a 12lb weights hike to bag a quick hat-trick. Saint Riquier comes here in fine form from the Flat and could emerge as the main threat, although C&D winner Castel Gandolfo and the returning Our Champ can have a say too.

3.40: Look Back Smiling

This week's rain has been a major plus for Look Back Smiling, who is extremely well equipped to handle testing conditions, and he is the selection ahead of Tolstoy, who has won four times this season and could improve again now he is going beyond 1m for the first time. C&D winner Liberty Lane got back on track with a near-miss at Doncaster recently and he is next on the list ahead of Bopedro, who is 9lb lower than when third in this last year. Cases can also be made for Norwalk Havoc, Toimy Son, Godwinson and Theoryofeverything, while This Songisforyou and Roi De France could play leading roles if handling the ground.

4.00: White Umbrella

Most of the nine have something to recommend them. Hurstwood, Music Society and Eldeyaar come here on the back of good runs but the two to focus on could be Run This Way and White Umbrella. They contested the same Chester handicap two weeks ago, finishing second and sixth, and the runs of both can be upgraded, with the former always close to the strong pace and the selection also emerging with plenty of credit. Drawn wide and hampered at the start, White Umbrella made up a good deal of ground around the outside in the heat of the race before those exertions took their toll in the final furlong. With a good pace looking assured today, she could creep into this late and register her fifth win.
